We passed a number of interesting places on our drive from Mackinaw City into the Upper Peninsula. A couple of places I passed and had to turn back. The reality is not always what the mind sees at first glance, but sometimes that first glance is just right!

Yes, the places we find along the roads. I read somewhere that Henri Cartier Bresson did not travel by air but wanted to travel by car, bus, or train so that he could see the landscape change.
Kathy and I have often remarked on how easy it is to tell the difference between one state and the next. You miss all that when you fly over it or drive through on the interstates.
