Another highlight of our recent cruise and part of our chef tour was a tour of the galley. We have done galley tours before on numerous cruises, but ordinarily they are held in the morning, and the most exciting thing you see is someone making gravy! For this tour we were taken through the galley during dinner service, and it was quite an experience!
It’s been a long time since I worked in any kind of restaurant environment, and I’m not sure I actually qualify to say that I worked in any kind of restaurant! But the things we found most impressive were how clean and organized things were, and how friendly everyone was, especially while they were busy. I took a lot of photos on this tour, and these are just a few, to give you a “taste” of the experience!
I guess you got the “cooks tour”.
It is amazing how well these kitchens (sorry, galley’s) put out so much well prepared food so quickly.
We definitely did get the “cook’s tour” John. And was a real treat…literally! 🙂
Good grief, you did get the grand tour! From the images it looks like everyone enjoys their work because I see lots of smiles. I’m curious, was it something you signed up for? Anyway, this is another good series of images. Maybe you could pass them along to the cruise line.
Hi Monte. Yes, we signed up (and paid good money) for this tour which included the shore excursion in the morning, with the visit to the fish market, produce stand and the distillery. There were about 12 people in our group. In the evening after we sailed from Nassau, we toured the galley, then Chef Stephen prepared dinner for our group. While the items served were not purchased during our tour (health department and cruise line rules) it was themed after the foods we saw and tasted. I may post a link to the cruise line page…good idea!
