I’m amused this morning by the story of the 5-year old boy in Utah who had an argument with his mother because she refused to buy him a Lamborghini. With $3 in his wallet he got in the family car and headed for California to buy his own. He might have made it too, if it wasn’t for a suspicious Utah Highway Patrolman. Way to take matters into your own hands!
Someone wondered how he learned to drive, and someone else speculated “X-Box!”
Reminds me of a story. A few years ago on one of my motorcycle trips west I stopped in a small town in Wyoming at a fly fishing shop and coffee shop. I saw the espresso sign in the window so I had to stop. I wandered in the shop then took my latte outside and sat on the curb next to my motorcycle, a BMW 1150RT sport touring bike. A young boy rode up on his bicycle and began to admire my motorcycle. He asked if it was mine then told me it was really kool. I said thank you. He then asked how much I paid for it. I said $12,000. He smiled and said that’s not bad and rode off.
That’s a great story, Monte. Not that a kid would likely know the difference between $12,000 and $12. I’m sure you’ve had people ask about your camera gear, but when I tell people that I paid more for my polarizer than they paid for their point-and-shoot or more for my tripod than their phone they’re usually floored.
If I ever had a motorcycle it would likely be something like your old bike. Comfortable and quiet would suit me well.
