There are a number of professions I have always been thankful to not have experienced. Anything requiring a safety harness or hard hat would fall into that category. Climbing trees with a machete hanging from my belt would double my resolve!
One day at our hotel we received notice that a crew would be trimming the palm trees the next day. As it turned out, they started working right outside our room as we were enjoying our morning coffee. It was interesting to watch, but I wasn’t about to consider a return to the work force.
These guys didn’t have to climb quite that high or take quite that ride, but still! ๐
Yikes! I could see that coming but man, no way…
Me too! ๐
No way! Not gonna return to the workforce either, even if they offered me free apple fritters on Fridays. My work now a days is with my photography for fun, coffee shop excursions for fun, journaling for fun, reading for fun and snacking too much. Great series of images to show the risk they take. I’m still shaking from the video.
I might be tempted by free apple fritters, but only for the right job. ๐ Yeah, that video was pretty wild!
That’s wild – I didn’t know they needed to be trimmed!
They look a little “scalped” when first trimmed but once they’re all done it looks pretty normal. We also learned that part of what the trimming does is prevent the trees from producing coconuts, which can have a potentially adverse result when they fall on unsuspecting tourists!

And thatโs all Iโve got to say about that.
