We got to Bardstown a day earlier than we anticipated. So what do you do with a bonus day in Bourbon country? You taste wine, of course!
Kentucky does have some pretty decent wine, it seems that Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc grow especially well here. So of course we picked up a few bottles. 🙂
We did stop by the Jim Beam Distillery, although they were not open. It’s still very scenic place and one we have enjoyed visiting in the past.
Bill wants to go to the barrel factory some day. I guess thats a bucket list item.
We’ve been to the cooperage before but are going again tomorrow. We would love to meet you down here sometime if you’d like. We kind of know our way around. 😉
Is that the new rickhouse? I seem to remember hearing the Beam rickhouse burned down.
This is actually a visitor center built to resemble a still house and is not an actual rick house. There was a fire at one of their rick houses in Frankfort back in 2019 but that is an hour or more away from Clermont. Beam has dozens (or more) rick houses spread throughout the bourbon country region.
