Earlier this week, Kathy & I celebrated the ’44th anniversary of her 21st birthday” with a couple of nights in The Big City (Charlotte) with some jazz, dinners with friends, an art museum and lots of walking around. We had a great time, I took a few photos and we are now back on our diets for a few more weeks!

Congrats!
Thank you, Howard!
Congratulations Kathy! That’s a big one. Sounds like a good time was had by all. I understand the diet thing, too.
Big in a number of ways – not least of which is that our health insurance goes way down. And goes down even farther next year when I celebrate! More money in the vacation fund!
Yeah, the diet. We don’t celebrate milestones by going to the gym, do we?
Happy Birthday! Hope the jazz was cool and the dinners were hot.
We’ve got a great jazz club in town that pulls from a pool of excellent local talent as well as attracts some name national acts. The show we saw was a local trio with a singer doing an Ella Fitzgerald tribute. Because of the birthday commitments we missed out on Delfeayo Marsalis, which would have been great.
Kathy discovered a new (to her) rye, although she thinks you might have told her about it. After being quoted $100 and $50 for an ounce of Whistlepig 15 year and 12 year, a helpful bartender suggested a Basil Hayden Dark Rye, which I can afford! Good thing, too, since we’re about done with the Gunpowder Rye from NE Distilling.
I do like Basil Hayden but haven’t had the rye. I will though! NE Distilling is still on our lengthy list of Portland sites to see.
Happy Birthday!
It was a good one…thanks, Mark!
