We’ve been at the beach for a week but I hadn’t managed to drag my sorry self out of bed for sunrise – until this morning. I was well rewarded. I’m kind of picky about when I’m willing to get up – tides, weather and sunrise time play a role. I looked at the weather forecast before heading to bed last night and decided it would likely be a good chance for photos. We’ve got some clouds rolling in today with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and overnight. Tomorrow might be a good morning too, we’ll have to see if I can motivate myself two mornings in a row. 😉

Very, very nice. I love the semi-circle at the bottom of the frame.
I’m with you on reluctance to get up super-early for something like this, but it’s almost always rewarding. If you get skunked by things not working out atmospherically, there’s always coffee. 🙂
Thank you, Jeff. To me, a good foreground is essential, especially at the beach, unless you’re lucky enough to get good clouds. Sometimes you get both! And sometimes you get coffee. 😉
A compelling look! The “volcano” in the foreground holds interest for an appropriate time and then all elements lead you through the image savoring the light all the way. Makes me feel so at ease!!
the new banner also is very nice.
Thank you, Don. I appreciate your insights on viewing the image. I’m not able to explain it as eloquently as you do but I see what you are describing! 😉
Glad you made it out there and had your camera with you, both vital for such and image. The more we go out the more opportunities we get for these scenes. I like the rewards.
I like being there early in the morning even when it’s a blank canvas sky. The sounds of nature do as much for me as anything. There is always something being given when we’re there to receive it.
Beautiful image, my friend!!
Thank you very much, Monte! I appreciate your kind comments, as always. 😉
