Our bartender buddy dropped off his latest creation the other day. It’s a strawberry syrup made from fresh strawberries, sugar and 100-proof vodka. It makes a yummy addition to a gin & tonic, and would also be good in just tonic or soda water, probably in ginger ale or cola. He recommends it with vodka, rum or bourbon. I may try a few things to see how it goes. I used some of the Old Fashioned syrup in a salmon glaze, I wonder how this strawberry syrup would taste on pancakes or waffles. Hmmmm…. 🙂
Our stay-at-home orders are set to expire on Friday, when we will hopefully begin a phased approach to re-opening businesses. Haircuts are still probably a month or more away, but being able to get back to the malls (that we don’t go to) may ease some of the crowds in other places we do go to!
Things are easing up here, also. Old businesses have signs up as if they were opening for the first time, even Starbucks had a banner outside. When you mentioned strawberry syrup I immediately thought of pancakes or waffles. Let us know how it works out.
If you hadn’t told me the image was a screen I’d never have guessed.
We don’t usually keep pancake mix of waffles in the house (a major failing on our part IMO!) so I’ll have to buy some and check it out. It is really sweet and with the vodka content is certainly not for everyone.
I didn’t set out to make unrecognizable images, but a few of them have turned out that way. The window screen was one where I tried to come up with a creative approach that wouldn’t make it obvious. I’m glad you found it to be puzzling! 🙂
Wow the strawberry syrup sounds fantastic! A scoop of ice cream on a waffle with that syrup on top… count me in!
I had been thinking ‘banana split’ but that works too! 🙂 Cheers!
