Kathy & I paid a visit to the Charlotte Regional Farmer’s Market yesterday. We don’t get there often enough, and every time we go I’m reminded of the availability of fresh foods from local and regional farms. It’s also an interesting place to take photographs, although from a few of the pictures, a few of the people didn’t look too happy to see the front of my camera. Maybe they were Nikon or Olympus fans. 😉
It probably wasn’t the best place to use a wide angle lens, but I hadn’t had much time to use the 10-24 and decided to use it there. All in all I think the photos came out pretty well.

Colors are gorgeous!
The colors are the second best part…the yummy food is the best!
Funny I spent part of Saturday morning at a farmers market here in Fort Collins. I received an email from Jax camera department letting me know about a photo walk they were putting on. They had two reps from Fujifilm with a boat load of X-cameras and lens for people to try. I spent the morning shooting with the 35mm f1.4 and meeting other X photographers. I also had a short period to time with the 50-140mm f2.8. That is a big lens!
One thing nice about my pancake lens and the X-E1 it does not intimidate people. If fact many will look at it and think I’m shooting and old rangefinder film camera. Questions start and photos are made. Again, another good series of images, telling us the story of the day.
That sounds like it would have been nice to be hands-on with all that equipment, especially the lenses, because handling them is the only way to know how they feel. I seriously considered buying the so-called “pro” lenses, but both the 16-55 and the 50-140 are nearly as big as the Canons they replace and I decided that might be defeating the purpose.
I just ordered the 23MM 1.4 and should get it this week. I wanted a prime lens for walking around, the 35MM has been out of stock forever (at least at B&H) and I wanted something a little wider. It really isn’t much/any smaller than the 10-24 so there is still a bit of that intimidation factor.
I think the 23mm would be more preferable to me than the 35mm, at least for the streets. I will be interested in how you like it.
