In general I don’t have the inclination or patience to make “proper” photographs of animals. But knowing that we would be in an area known for wildlife, I wanted to be prepared. Most of these are snapped from alongside the road, in less-than-perfect lighting, but I got what I got. Not much to say, other than “enjoy!”

Holy cow! I think I got a picture of the same ground squirrel (or one of his / her kids) up on Trail Ridge Road. They seem to like to pose up there, probably because you might have food. I also got some moose (or maybe elk?) pictures down in one of the valleys. I even got one of some guy chasing a bull through some bushes. Dumb.
I could have had a few shots of “stupid people chasing photos” but refrained. Mostly because that would have put me in same position as them!
The chipmunks and ground squirrels were especially shameless and would often come right up to us while we were sitting somewhere. Always looking for a handout!
I love the image of the squirrel. And I think I have the same image also. I think you came home with some good images of the critters. Since each region of our world have different plants and wildlife we must take the time to enjoy them.
Good thing that squirrel doesn’t demand royalties! I definitely enjoy seeing the wildlife, and although the photos may not be prize winners they fit in with all the rest to provide us with good memories.
No need for the photos to be prize winners. It’s just really cool to be able to share and to look back and trigger those memories, and that ground squirrel, or chipmunk, is a ham! 😀
I did check to be sure, but even though it looks like what we know as a chipmunk, that is a squirrel. They look very similar. I think he was hoping for treats!
Pretty nice collection of animal photos for just shooting as opportunities present themselves.
Thanks, Brooks! Kathy spent a lot of time riding around with the 100-400 in her lap.
Hey Tom, I’m pretty sure I saw that moose on Kenosha Pass last year – or maybe it was it’s brother (or sister). Nice set of shots. Hope you guys had a great time!
