One of my most-looked-forward-to stops was the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. The highlight of the visit was getting to see Howard Hughes’ H-4 Hercules aircraft, most commonly known as the “Spruce Goose.”

Interesting history of the aircraft. Also, interesting that man has this desire to build big. I was surprised to find it built from wood (birch).
Yes, and the problem was that Hughes was such a perfectionist that by the time the plane was actually built, the U-boat problem it was intended to solve had already been solved by other means. A fascinating story, for sure. And an enormous achievement for that time period.
