With a peak elevation of 5,300 feet, a vertical drop of 1,200 feet, a longest run of 1 1/2 miles and 115 skiable acres, Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina.  Sugar Mountain Resort first opened in 1969 for skiers and has since expanded it’s winter operation to include snowboarding, tubing, ice skating and snowshoeing.  Summer activities include Summer Lift Rides, hiking and biking and the Oktoberfest.   Our 20 slopes and trails are varied to accommodate our beginners with our Magic Carpet area, the experts with our double black diamond Whoopdedoo or anyone in between. Ski/Snowboard School programs are available for group, private or children’s lessons andour Group Sales department handles groups of 15 or more.
