We awoke Wednesday morning to winter weather advisories for southwestern North Dakota.  They weren’t kidding!  We drove about 100 miles through varying amounts of snow and slush before turning to mostly rain in South Dakota.  A very interesting day, to say the least! 🙂

Sorry we’re missing the record high temperatures in North Carolina – NOT!

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a situation where I have pulled off the road to take a picture, taken a handful of pictures, gotten back in the car and driven off without being passed by another car, in either direction!

Golden Spike Tower at the Union Pacific’s Bailey Yard in North Platte, Nebraska is the largest railroad classification yard in the world. Named in honor of former Union Pacific President Edd H. Bailey, the massive yard covers 2,850 acres, reaching a total length of eight miles. The yard is located in the midst of key east-west and north-south corridors, on the busiest freight rail line in America, making it a critical component of Union Pacific’s rail network.
