New Website Gallery: Faces In Places

Performer from El Alma de la Luna of Spain at the Folkmoot “Parade of Nations” in Waynesville, North Carolina

I’ve had some time to work on another new gallery for my website.  This one I have decided to title “Faces In Places.”

I don’t consider myself to be a people photographer, and a lot of my photos have no people in them whatsoever.  But on occasion we come across some irresistible or interesting subject that we just have to photograph.

Most of these are completely candid, although admittedly there are a few where a connection was made.  They tend to be the best ones, in my opinion.

  1. Next to changing lenses in the rain, photographing people may be the hardest thing for me to do photographically. I should do a count and see my hit-to-miss ratio and then keep it a close-held secret. I can do family passably, but strangers is just really difficult. Congratulations on finding enough to fill a well executed gallery, lots of color there!

    1. If I had to rely on talking to people and getting them to pose it would never happen! I do have a lot of misses, although I was surprised at how many candidates I had when I was editing them down.

  2. I think you have a good series of image here. Street portraits are sure not the same as posed portraits. I like the spontaneity of a street portrait. However, they are a hit and miss for me. I have some I like but many have been permanently deleted. There have been those times when I approached people and walked away with decent images while I’ve had the opposite experience. It seems to take a certain personality to be a good street portrait photographer. Again, I think you have four very good images here.

    1. Thank you, Monte. I was surprised to have so many candidates to create what I feel is a pretty competent image collection. I had a lot of no-so-worthy images to choose from!
