  1. I was assigned to a SAC base in 1969 where we had several of these B52 and their tankers loaded 24/7 and could be airborne in a matter of minutes. During exercises they would have one aircraft lifting off and a second one halfway down the runway. There’s no way you could sleep through that exercise. Dang, all that was 50 years ago.

    1. I’d seen flyovers of B-52s before but don’t think I’d ever seen one up close. At first they don’t look that large, but once you get close you really realize the size. I can only imagine the sound!
